● The following are my personal rankings for each country. They're based off already existing rankings such as the Italian "Tradizione sportiva" or the Brazilian "Ranking Folha" and "Ranking Placar". Of course, I do have my own criteria.

● I take into account competitions at domestic, continental and international levels. Except where stated, I consider the following: domestic league winners to third placed; winners to semifinalists or third placed for domestic and international major competitions; winners only for competitions that are contested by two teams. Only number of seasons in the top tier league are considered for those teams that don't meet the main requirements. Teams must have at least three seasons in the top tier league to be included in a ranking.

● Teams can consist of mergers and predecessors, either official or spiritual. If two mergers played a top tier season at the same time, I consider only one season. If two mergers reached an achievement in the same competition (read previous paragraph) in the same year, I consider only the higher one.

● Certain competitions can have a different weight for countries of a continent compared to those of a different one. It depends on how important those competitions are considered in certain continents or countries. For example, the Intercontinental Cup/Club World Cup (2000-) is deemed more important for non-European teams in comparison to European teams which understandably see the Champions League as the main competition for clubs.

● Each post is dedicated to a country and has all the competitions I considered to rank the teams. The rankings might be split into two sections, the first consisting of the teams that would make an all-time top tier league for that specific country, selecting a convenient number of clubs that represents or used to represent reality. If a post has two rankings, that's because it's possible to split the corresponding country's football history into two periods, for example "amateur and professional era". Given that the rankings are purely based on statistics, by no means are they supposed to reflect which teams are stronger, neither now nor overall.

This first post serves also as an index. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to send me a PM in such a way that this thread contains only the rankings.

NORTH AMERICA (NATIONAL TEAMS)

Competitions
Spoiler: show
Major tournaments: FIFA World Cup 1930-, CONCACAF Gold Cup 1991-, Copa América 1993-, CONCACAF Championship 1963-1989, Olympics 1908-1988, CONCACAF Nations League 2019-, FIFA Confederations Cup 1992-2017

Subregional and minor tournaments: CCCF Championship 1941-1961, NAFC Championship 1947-1949, Panamerican Championship 1952-1960, Bolivarian Games 1938-1981, Caribbean Cup 1989-2017, Copa de Naciones UNCAF/Centroamericana 1991-2017, CONCACAF Cup 2015, King's Cup 2019, ABCS Tournament 2010-2022

Additional notes:
• I rate the second group of the World Cup 1974, 1978 and 1982 like quarter-finals. The second placed teams of each group of the 1974 and 1978 editions are rated the same as semifinalists, and the second placed teams of each group of the 1982 edition are rated the same as quarter-finalists
• Only the third placed is considered instead of semifinalists for the 1950 World Cup because a final group with a round robin format was played to determine the winner
• The second round of the 1972 Olympics is rated the same as quarter-finals
• Up until 2017, the competitions for Caribbean and Central American national teams were also valid as qualifiers for the Gold Cup. They've been replaced by the CONCACAF Nations League starting from 2019

• I consider only the third placed teams of the 1961, 1976 and 2007 editions of the Arab Games as these tournaments had no semifinals and they were contested in a round robin format
• The editions 2008 to 2014 of the AFC Challenge Cup were also valid as qualifiers for the Asian Cup with the winner of the tournament qualifying directly to the next Asian Cup
• Starting from the qualifiers for the 2019 Asian Cup, the first two rounds of the qualifiers are also valid for the FIFA World Cup
