INFO: Julio Kuntz (or Kunz) Filho, from Rio Grande do Sul, excelled as a goalkeeper, one of the greatest in Brazilian football in his time and the first goalkeeping phenomenon of Flamengo – with due respect to the pioneer Baena, the Flamengo goalkeeper in the club's football debut and the owner of the position in its first two Carioca titles.

Gifted with impressive agility and elasticity, Kuntz experienced the peak of his career during the three full seasons he defended Flamengo, winning the Carioca Championship twice and the prestigious Torneio Início twice, in addition to winning the 1922 South American Championship defending the goal for the Brazilian National Team. Even though he later participated in another historic feat of Brazilian football – the legendary and triumphant European tour of the now-defunct Paulistano club, of Arthur Friedenreich – it was as a Flamengo player that the goalkeeper became known nationally and even internationally, receiving the nickname "El Colosso" from the Argentine press.
