INFO: Romero was a very efficient left-back, a good scorer and supporter, who began his career in 1968 at Bonsucesso-RJ. In 1972, after a successful loan spell at Náutico-PE, after having returned to Bonsucesso at the end of the loan, he arrived at Bahia at the beginning of 1973, as the club's first signing for that season, a hire who went to this Rio club for 100 thousand cruises, on the recommendation of coach Evaristo de Macedo, who went to Rio de Janeiro personally to look for him.
Romero was thin, but had physical strength, excellent passing and skill. It always came hard.
Romero became a fan idol, remaining at Tricolor Baiano until 1977, winning five Bahian titles during this period wearing the Bahia shirt. In 1978 he had a brief spell at Palmeiras-SP, later moving to Atlético-MG in the same year. However, homesickness struck this Carioca with a Bahian heart and Romero returned to Bahia in 1979, to once again become state champion for the sixth time.
