BalancedINFO: He started in football in the amateur categories of Guarani Futebol Clube. Right back from the start, Mauro also took the risk at the right end until he was put into the defensive corridor.
Good scorer and supporter, Mauro was a very skilled player. Lapped by coach Zé Duarte, his football was used in the main cast in 1973.
While fighting for the substitute Odair and Wilson Campos, Mauro was remembered by coach Jose Teixeira to serve the base teams of the Brazilian National Team in 1974.
A champion of "Sub 20" in the South American of Chile, Mauro was also called to play in the Tournament of Toulon, also in 1974, besides the Gold medal in the Pan-American of 1975, disputed in Mexico.
In 1976 he was part of the canarinho cast that disputed the Olympic Games of Montreal. In the same season he was champion of the first round of the Paulista championship.
His best moment in the Golden Earring happened in the campaign of the Brazilian championship of 1978, when the technician Carlos Alberto Silva took the field picture to the unpublished title.
Due to a chronic knee injury, Mauro was losing his ability to score and offensive support. He opted for the improvement at the back of the pack.
