INFO: He was known as the "Ghost of the area," for fear of attacking opponents. In 1934, when he defended the Americano of Porto Alegre, he was called to the Brazilian national team that was in the World Cup in Italy. He was the first player of a gaucho team to have this honor. The Brazilian team in the Copa de 34 was disappointing: Seleção lost to Spain 3-1 in the first leg and then returned home. [In total, Luís Luz wore the Brazilian shirt in nine games with two wins, four draws and three defeats.

It's a really good jump, but he was 1.85m tall, maybe that makes it seem quite tall. Here's a discussion I had about Peter Broadbent from Woles; in my opinion, he deserves a jump between 78-82, but they gave him 76, and he's shorter than Luiz Luz. I believe Luiz could have jumped a maximum of 80, but I think 78 is okay for him in a jump.

Well, he must have good leg strength, because for someone who's 185 cm tall, that jump is good. And as for the Wolves player, there are two photos that prove he deserves those jump heights; the question is how often he did them; I'd have to see the videos.

But this case is very different since we're talking about a defender who sometimes (if not frequently) has to use aerial play to clear balls, whereas Peter Broadbent is considered a playmaker and not so much a poacher in the box like Sandor Kocsis or Nat Lofthouse.

There are different ways to interpret the jump, both in the run and in position, and the same could be said of Martim Silveira who also has a good jump without needing to run from behind and jump.
