Attack MindedINFO: The ''Craque Paradoxal'', so Gessy was called because, according to him, he did not like to play football. He did not take pleasure in doing so. He did not even celebrate most of his goals, and only followed in sport for his undeniable and immeasurable talent.
In addition, the ball paid his bills while he was studying to get into dentistry.
After the game in Uruguaiana, Gessy was hired immediately. It was penta champion Gaucho between 1956 and 1960, winning all that disputed. His style of play was characterized by the fast drift towards the goal, a strong and precise kick, and a qualified pass that consecrated Juarez, the "tank", as great striker striker of the time. He was also known as "King of the Janelinha", a reference to his characteristic dribble.
Despite the various titles, it was a game in particular, and the story that involved him, which immortalized Gessy in the pages of the history of world football.
In 1959, Gessy had evidence for the college entrance examination. The Grêmio was to play in Montevideo and, later, Buenos Aires. He was taking the tests, passed the entrance exam and celebrated with large amounts of alcohol.
However, it was agreed that he would go to Buenos Aires to face Boca Juniors. And he went. He got off the plane, still half-cocked. The leader Ari Delgado tried to hide him from Foguinho. Gessy slept until his departure, and that night he scored four goals in Grêmio's 4-0 victory over Boca Juniors, thus blazing Boca's first defeat at La Bombonera for a foreign club in its history.
The captain of the Argentine team at the time would have said at the time something like: "Take this man away, he is putting an end to Boca!". It is said that Gessy was applauded standing up for the whole stadium.
