Attack MindedINFO: Sylvio Pirillo was born on July 26, 1916, in Porto Alegre (RS).
His walk in soccer was started playing as a right hand in the defunct team of the American, from the city of Porto Alegre in 1933.
Owner of an enviable technique, Pirillo was fast and endowed with the typical coldness of the great gunners. They were more than enough qualities to be hired by the International Sport Club at the end of 1935.
In the municipal championship of 1936 Pirillo was not the absolute holder, but scored 4 goals in the title campaign. In 1937 he was part of the first professional group of the International.
In 1938 he faced his first challenge by replacing striker Mancuso, the greatest idol of the gaucho football at the time. Despite the good performance playing as a forward, Pirillo would not stay for long in the ranks of the International.
On August 24, 1939, Pirillo was negotiated with Club Atlético Peñarol of Uruguay for 20 Tales of Réis. He was the first player of the gaucho football sold abroad.
At the beginning of the second half of 1941, during a trip from Flamengo to Uruguay, coach Flávio Costa recommended the hiring of Pirillo.
Flamengo desperately sought a "Goal Man" to replace Leônidas da Silva, who was in dispute with the club and was negotiated the following year with Sao Paulo.
At the time, no one believed that it would be possible to replace Leonidas da Silva. Thus, Pirillo landed in Flamengo in a climate of much distrust, with fans supporting Leonidas in the fight against the leaders of Flamengo.
But in that same year of 1941, Pirillo would establish a record, which remains until today, being the top scorer of the championship of Rio de Janeiro with 39 goals. The biggest previous mark was exactly of Leônidas da Silva, with 30.
Pirillo also defended the Carioca team in countless opportunities alongside star players such as Zizinho, Domingos da Guia, Tim and Patesco.
With an incredible average of 201 goals in 228 games, Pirillo is the highest scorer of the Carioca championship and the fifth largest in Flamengo history. Pirillo was only outscored in number of goals, respectively, by Dida, Zico and Romario.
By the Brazilian Selection Pirillo acted in 5 opportunities in the year of 1942, obtaining 3 victories, 2 defeats and 6 marked goals.
In the following years, 1942, 1943 and 1944, Pirillo conquered the historical tri-championship of Rio with a strong offensive line alongside Valido, Zizinho, Perácio and Vevé.
Playing for Flamengo were 228 matches with 134 wins, 46 draws, 48 losses and 207 goals scored.
