INFO:Ujang was a centre-back and libero. His career started in 1960 at Persika Karawang. He transferred to Persija Jakarta in 1965. He then had the best time of his career at PSMS Medan from 1968 to 1975. He was team captan from 1971 to 1974. He represented Indonesia during the 1960s and 1970s, even facing big teams like Uruguay and Santos. He was included in the Asian All Stars in 1968 and allegedly in more years. He retired in 1978.
Considered one of the best Indonesian defenders of all time and one of the best in Asia alongside his teammate Yuswardi during the 1960s and 1970s, Ujang was nicknamed "Indonesian Beckenbauer" for his strong and straightforward style of play, tendency to start attacking plays and ability to score goals. Always wearing the jersey n°5, he was a complete, proud and hardworking defender. He even earned praise from none other than Pelé as the Indonesian defender managed to stop the Brazilian striker in multiple occasions during a 1972 friendly match against Santos thanks to a tight marking and a solid ability to control the defensive line. Ujang had another great performance against Uruguay in 1974 as strikers Fernando Morena and Juan Silva struggled to penetrate the opposition's defense, mainly due to Ujang and goalkeeper Ronny Pasla.
