INFO:Mafu Kibonge is a former central or attacking midfielder. He spent his entire career at Vita Club where he played from 1965 to 1980, winning the African Champions League in 1973. He represented Zaire at least 24 times between 1965 and 1974, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 1968 and 1974, and participated to the 1974 FIFA World Cup.
Kibonge was slim, agile and technically gifted playmaker. He didn't use to make too much movement, focusing instead on dictating the rhythm with his vision and leadership in midfield. His ball distribution was regarded as exceptional in his home country. He didn't have the chance to prove it at the World Cup due to the high level of the opponents, but he still showed more than solid passing skills.
