Bangoura was a centre-forward. He spent the majority of his career at Hafia FC in the 1970s, during the club's golden era. He allegedly played also in Ivory Coast for Africa Sports d'Abidjan in the 1980s. It's unclear how many caps he earned for Guinea as he seemingly wasn't always a regular starter, but he scored at least 4 goals in as many games.
Nicknamed "Mané Garrincha" after the legendary Brazilian right-winger, Bangoura was though a centre-forward. He could prevail on most defensive lines thanks to his physical and technical qualities, especially his dribbling that could disorient the defenders. Bangoura was also gifted with a shot packed with power and an accurate heading ability that often made it difficult for goalkeepers to stop the ball.
