INFO:Coldwell was a right-back. He spent his entire professional career at Sheffield United, playing 475 games and scoring twice. He was one of Sheffield United most important players in the 1950s and 1960s, captaining the side that gained the promotion to First Division in 1961 and being outstanding in that leadership role.
Coldwell was a hard-working defender who put all effort and dedication in every match. His skills and technical abilities were limited but he made the best use of his talent, forming an efficient couple of full-backs with first Cliff Mason and then Graham Shaw. He was very steady and rarely made a mistake. He wasn't very quick, but he never broke a sweat thanks to his ability to read well the game and his positional sense due to which he could get into the right positions. No one could take him to the cleaners.
