BalancedINFO:Ticozzelli was a right-back, regarded as one of the best in Italy during the 1910s and 1920s. Also a cyclist and a soldier in the First World War, he wasn't always a participant in the Italian Prima Divisione. He played 35 matches and scored 3 goals for Alessandria between 1914 and 1921. Then he spent three seasons at Spal, playing 66 games and scoring 6 times. His last club was Casale, where he played 77 matches, scoring 4 goals, from 1924 to 1931. He capped once for Italy in 1920. He participated at the
Giro d'Italia wearing Casale's black jersey. Unfortunately his lack of equipment led him to the last place and from the episode the black shirt has been given to the last placed in an Italy Tour for many years.
Ticozzelli was a tall and imposing defender, gifted with a good physique. He was the perfect sweeping defender, large to stop the strikers, fast to intercept the ball and recover it when he was cut off by the long pass of an opponent, capable in the air to push away high balls. Moreover he had good technique and an incredibly powerful shot: he used to try the shot even from the midfield and scored the longest goal ever at the time, directly from goal-kick at a distance of 75 metres. Also, he took free kicks and occasionally penalties. Despite being a defender of the first two decades, he pushed forward many times to take advantage of his shooting ability or to set up an action by passing the ball to a forward. During his only match with Italy − won 9-4 against France − he showed probably a lack of agility because he was dribbled several times in the first half, while he improved in the second one. The two faces of Ticozzelli were seen as well in the Italian championship, like in a match between Alessandria and Genoa, when during the second half he couldn't sweep the balls away properly, sending them always in corner.
