INFO:Attilio Gallina was a goalkeeper. Casale's legend of the first half of the 1910s, he played 69 matches for the
Nerostellati, having a major role in the squad that won the Italian championship in 1913-14, conceding only 14 goals in 27 games.
A good goalkeeper, Gallina was gifted with an impressive physique for the time: a large bust that made him capable to cover the space with his chest; remarkable physical strength; powerful legs thanks to which he could make good leaps despite his huge body: mainly efficient at stopping high shots. The opposing teams were scared to try a charge on him for obvious reasons. He was renowned for his way to reject the ball with a punch from below upwards, resulting though in a danger for the other players, both opponents and teammates. This also led to Casale taking their first ever owngoal on 25th January 1914 against Alessandria, when the rejected ball hit a defender and went in goal. During the legendary match against Reading on 14th May 1913, ended with Casale being the first Italian team to win against an English one, he impressed the opposing team in a particular moment: a rejected a powerful shot from James Lofthouse with an open palm and according to Reading, they never saw such athletic act before.
