INFO:Salman is a former central and attacking midfielder. He spent his entire at Al-Sadd from 1980 to 1998. He made 54 appearances for Qatar, possibly scoring 13 goals that, including one in the group stage of the 1988 AFC Asian Cup. Among his most memorable matches with the national team are the win against Brazil in the 1981 FIFA World Youth Championship ─ Qatar impressively lost in the final of the tournament to West Germany ─ where he scored a hat-trick, and the game against France at the 1984 Olympics.
One of the most prominent players in the history of Qatar, Salman was skillful, gifted with good dribbling, remarkable speed and ball distribution. He was an offensive minded midfielder who often joined the attack, sometimes reaching the box to receive the ball, proving to be a good finisher. He was right-footed but comfortable with the left too and could use the head as well. Very capable from set piece, he scored several penalties and some good free kicks. He led Al-Sadd to win their first Asian Club Championship in 1989 scoring two goals in the final against Iraqi Al-Rasheed, one in the first leg ─ ended 3-2 for the Iraqi team ─ and one from free kick in the second leg ─ finished 1-0 for the Qatari team.
