Burhan is a goalkeeper. He spent the majority of his career at Al-Gharafa, where he made 184 appearances so far starting from 2008 ─ he was loaned for Lekhwiya in 2016-17. He played also for Al-Khor and Al-Rayyan between 2003 and 2008. He gained 80 caps for Qatar, taking part to the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, where his team reached the quarter-finals. A complete goalkeeper, Burhan is especially effective at handling high balls thanks to an impressive jumping ability as well as a tall and strong physique. Thanks to these qualities, he can make superb saves with one hand, catch crosses and reject them with punches without falling when charged by opponents. He's also good at dealing with low shots and possesses great reaction to get up quickly after a save to make a second one. Very comfortable with his feet and sometimes reckless when coming out the goal with sudden short sprints, he can make remarkable saves with either the right or the left foot, distribute the ball, leave the box and take the ball off an incoming opponent or anticipate him with a tackle, keep the ball while making tricky movements before catching it as soon as an opposing striker comes.
