INFO:
Khalfan Ibrahim ─ son of 1980's legendary winger Ibrahim Khalfan ─ is a former attacking midfielder and secondary striker, capable of playing also on both wings in either midfield or attack. He spent almost his entire career at Al-Sadd, making 298 appearances from 2004 to 2017, scoring 78 goals. He then had short experiences at Al-Arabi and Al-Rayyan before retiring in 2019 when he was only 31 year old. He gained 91 caps for Qatar, scoring 21 goals.
Compared to world legends like Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho and even Pelé, Ibrahim is regarded as one of the best ever Qatari players. Zico gave possibly the best description when of Ibrahim when he stated about his performance against Indonesia in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match: « I saw this wonderful player. He has speed and great dribbling skills. He has the features of a Brazilian player. I am confident that Qatar can produce talented players like Khalfan Ibrahim ». He was indeed gifted with outstanding speed especially when making short sprints and excellent dribbling thanks to which he can move through the defence and obtain free kicks or penalties. In addition, he possessed remarkable shot accuracy and ball distribution particularly with short passes as well as a very good ability from the penalty spot. His best ever goal ─ regarded by many as the best goal in the history of Qatar football ─ came on 26th April 2013 in a Crown Prince Cup match against Al-Rayyan when he ran 60 meters while dribbling four opponents before delivering a long range shot. That goal was compared to the one scored by Lionel Messi in 2007 as well as the one scored by Maradona at the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
