INFO:Joseph Abou Mrad was a centre forward or inside-right. After beginning his career in 1952 at Intias Chiyah, he spent the rest of it at Racing Club Beirut, where he played from 1953 to 1966. He won the Lebanese Premier League in 1955-56 and 1964-65, the second of which as top scorer with 18 goals. He capped for Lebanon 21 times, scoring 10 goals. 2 of his goals came at the 1963 Arab Cup, where Lebanon finished 3rd, and 1 in a historic friendly match lost 3-2 against Bulgaria in 1955.
Regarded as one of the most prominent ever Lebanese players, Abou Mrad was a talented striker, whose style of play was mostly characterised by physical strength and a thunderous, accurate long range shot on both feet. He could beat the best goalkeepers with 30 meters long shots or from difficult positions. Despite being strong and brave, he never used roughness against his opponents. Instead, he simply moved with his chest wide to defend himself by the charges of the defenders, becoming a role model to many.
