Abbas Ahmad Atwi (not to be confused with Abbas Ali Atwi) is a former attacking and central midfielder. He spent the majority of his career at Nejmeh, where he made over 400 appearances from 1997 to 2017 (he was loaned to Emirati team Dubai Club in 2012) plus a comeback in 2020-21, scoring 109 goals. He played also for Al Shabab Al Arabi, Shabab Al Sahel, and Akhaa Ahli Aley. He retired in 2022. Former Lebanon captain, he represented his country 88 times, scoring 8 goals.
Regarded as one of the best ever players and captains in the history of Lebanon, Atwi was distinguished for his high level style of play, showing good technique and dribbling. Mostly focused in the attack, he often made runs towards the goal to receive the ball, choosing well the timing even though he lacked of notable pace. Very prolific and accurate with either foot, he possessed also a good heading ability despite not being very tall. He could score remarkable goals from difficult positions or with the outside, preferring accuracy rather than power most of the times. A set piece specialist, he scored numerous times from free kick or penalty and at least once from direct corner kick.
