Maatouk is a winger and centre forward, capable of playing as secondary striker and attacking midfielder. His career began in 2005 at Al Ahed, where he scored 82 goals in six and a half seasons, winning the Lebanese Premier League three times and several national cups. He then played in the United Arab Emirates at Ajman Club, Emirates Club, Al Shaab and Fujairah. He was particularly prolific at Fujairah, where he scored 56 goals in 110 matches from 2013 to 2017. He eventually came back to Lebanon, spending two years at Nejmeh and then signing for Al Ansar in 2019. He capped for Lebanon 101 times so far, scoring 21 goals.
Arguably the best Lebanese player of the 2010s, Maatouk was even compared to Lionel Messi. An elegant and unpredictable left winger who can play on the right equally well, Maatouk started his career as centre forward and has been deployed many times behind the main strikers. In fact, not only he's a prolific scorer and goal poacher, gifted with high pace and amazing dribbling skills that he uses to cut inside from wide positions before beating the defenders, but he has also great vision especially with his superb crosses and the ability to keep the ball in order to provide assists for his teammates. Occasionally, he scores with headers or remarkable long range shots. He's also a penalty specialist. He prefers moving the ball on his favourite right foot but he's accurate with both feet. Moreover, he's a hardworking leader, who often takes responsibility in order to help his team reaching the best result possible. He once even received praise from Diego Maradona.
