Psaila was a centre back, capable of playing as half-back and centre forward. His career started in 1910 at Ħamrun Spartans, where he won two Premier Leagues in 1913-14 and 1917-18. He won the title also with KOMRM in 1918-19. He then joined Marsa United in 1920-21 and Malta Police one year later, winning the Cassar Cup in 1923 and the Premier League in 1924-25.
Considered by many as one of Maltese greatest defender and second only to Ruggieru Friggieri at the time, Psaila was a tall and strong defender, who played quite well in the half-back and centre forward positions. In fact, he was skillful so that he could defend but also attack with the other forwards when needed. He had an abundance of individual skills and star quality that made him a great footballer.
