INFO:Attilio Trerè ─ younger brother of Alessandro ─ was a left wing-half or half-back, capable of playing also as full-back and goalkeeper as he won the 1906 Italian championship between the posts. He spent the majority of his career at Milan, making 75 appearances from 1905 to 1915 ─ excluding the 1909-10 season at Ausonia ─ scoring 19 goals. He retired in 1915 after he got hit by a grenade shard during the First World War. He was called up for Italy 5 times and took part to the national team's first ever match on May 15, 1910 in a 6-2 win against France.
Trerè was initially regarded as a high-class goalkeeper and he still played sporadically in that role even after he was turned into a midfielder. He had a short but solid physique like the typical old-school players of the time. Despite acting in a defensive position though he had great offensive prowess as he scored numerous goals. In fact, he used to make many individual actions and showed an unusual confidence in the strangest tricks. Very aggressive, fierce and often too reckless in the defence, journalist Bruno Roghi described him as a «dragon from fairytales that made smoke come out from his nose». However, he was reliable, possessed tremendous agility and good vision.
