INFO:
Carabott is a former wing-back, side midfielder or side back. He spent his best years at Hibernians, where he made 221 appearances from 1987 to 2000, scoring 57 goals. He played also for Valletta and Sliema Wanderers among other teams, retiring in 2011. He played for Malta 122 times, scoring 12 goals.
Initially deployed as a forward, Carabott found himself more comfortable in the wing-back as position because he had more freedom to show his abilities, supporting the strikers instead of depending on the support of his teammates. He acted mostly on the right side but Malta's coach Pietro Ghedin used him often on the left, so that he could converge towards the centre and shoot with his deadly right foot. One of the best side midfielders in Malta at the time, Carabott wasn't distinguished only for his remarkable scoring ability but also for his constant and very fast runs up and down the side as he attacked and defended. He often challenged the defenders, mostly to keep the ball rather than dribbling while waiting for a teammate to whom he could pass the ball. In his later career he proved to be a good penalty taker, scoring 5 penalties for Malta.
