Mifsud is a winger or centre forward, capable of playing as secondary striker. His career started in 1997 at Sliema Wanderers, making 80 appearances and scoring 60 goals in four seasons. In 2001, he transferred to Kaiserslautern, scoring regularly with the reserve team. He didn't convince with the main team and went back to Sliema Wanderers in 2004. The same year, joined Lillestrøm, where he scored 17 times in 52 matches. The 2006 season was very good as he scored 11 goals and was sold to Coventry City on January 2007. He finished the season with 4 goals in 19 games while the following year he scored 17 times in 47 appearances. For the 2008-09 season was underwhelming, he joined Barnsley on February 2009. He then had successful stints at Valletta in 2009-10, from 2011 to 2013 and from 2015 to 2018 for a total of 141 matches, 62 goals and several title wins. He played also for Qormi, Melbourne Heart, Birkirkara and Sirens. He signed for Mosta in 2021. He played for Malta 143 times, scoring 42 goals and leading his team as captain in many occasions. He's Malta's top scorer and most-capped player.
A true legend in Malta, Mifsud is regarded as one of the most prominent players in the history of the country and arguably the best Maltese player of the XXI century so far. Compared to Lionel Messi, Mifsud has always been distinguished for his great athleticism, work ethic and oustanding speed, especially on acceleration. He lacks of strength do to his very short physique but he's a threat for the defenders due to his tremendous dribbling and fast movements that he uses mostly to converge towards the center. He then faces the goalkeeper to dribble him or beat him with a well placed shot. Otherwise, he can deliver shots with great power with either foot or the outside. Highly reactive in front of the goal, he can take advantage of the most favourable situation to tap the ball in and he's capable of scoring with headers despite his short height. He's also a decent passer and good penalty taker. His best performance with Malta was probably a 7-1 win over Liechtenstein, where he scored 5 goals. However, his most legendary match is definitely the 2-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, when he scored both goals to knock the Red Devils out of the Carling Cup.
