Bashar Abdullah is a former centre forward, capable of playing also as playmaker. He spent the majority of his career at Al-Salmiya, making 543 appearances from 1994 to 2010, scoring 234 goals. However, was loaned several times, playing for Al-Hilal Saudi, Qatari team Al-Rayyan, Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait SC. He retired in 2011 after a second experience at Kuwait SC. He's Kuwait national team top scorer with 75 goals in 134 caps.
One of Kuwaiti most prominent players during the late 1990s and early 2000s, Abdullah was highly prolific, although he sometimes missed easy scoring chances. He possessed good speed, fine passing ability, excellent ball control and dribbling skills that allowed him to keep the ball and slip effortlessly between the defenders with quick movements and tricks as he didn't have a big physique. He had a very good striking ability, usually with soft and well placed shots, sometimes with powerful ones. He used to make a lot of track back, even helping to recover the ball in his own defence.
