INFO:Dunlop was a left-back. He spent almost his entire career at Liverpool, making 363 appearances from 1895 to 1909, scoring 3 goals. He previously played for Kilmarnock, and Abercorn. He capped for Scotland once in 1906. Dunlop was a brilliant old style full back. While he seemed overly anxious, he was keen and careful in the defence, always ready to stop the opponent with his terrific, confident tackles, although his roughness was at times questioned. Nonetheless, he stood out for his great mentality and the ability to sweep the ball cleanly away from almost any position, sending the ball accurately to his forwards. Possibly one of the best defenders in England in the early 1900s, he was considered the best full back that any club had for determination and loyalty. Despite his consistency, strength, speed, athleticism, agility, enthusiasm, skills, confidence on the ball, a mix of calmness and fierceness, he wasn’t rewarded with more international caps that he surely deserved.
