INFO:Pious is a former centre forward who could play as winger. He spent most of his career at Persepolis, lplaying from 1985 to 1988 and from 1989 to 1997 for a total of 212 matches and 153 goals. He's the current team's all-time top scorer. He previously played for Rah Ahan, Shahin Tehran and Nirooye Havaei. He spent a year in Qatar at Al-Ahli in 1988-89. He capped for Iran in 34 occasions, scoring 18 goals.
Regarded as one of the best players in Iran history and for many the best striker the country has ever produced, Pious was a talented scorer who displayed high intelligence, quickness on the ball, a powerful shot especially on his left foot, good heading ability, excellent technical and dribbling skills as well as speed of action, surprising the defenders with calculated moves in the shortest possible time. He was sometimes considered a low-impact player but what he could do in crucial matches was enough to keep the ball in his position and turn the action into the decisive moment of the match. He targeted the goal with incredible ease, no matter if the angle in front of him was covered or he was under pressure. Sometimes, it was thought that he could aim the goal and score even with his eyes closed. He was nicknamed "Asia's Rattlesnake" for how much dangerous he was in the penalty area. He was a fine penalty taker who scored 9 times from the penalty spot for Persepolis.
