Eid is a former centre back. He spent the majority of his career in his native country Bahrain, playing for West Riffa (now called Al-Riffa) from 1983 to 1995. He then played in Saudi Arabia for Al-Qadsiah from 1995 to 1999. He retired in 2002 after short experiences with Qatari teams Al-Shamal and Qatari SC, and Saudi team Al-Khaleej. He capped for Bahrain at least 50 times, scoring 4 goals, although sources report that he appeared in over 100 games for his country.
Considered Bahrain's most iconic captain and one of the best defenders in the Arab Gulf region during the 1980s and 1990s, Eid was distinguished for his ability in both defence and attack. In fact, while he had good defensive skill, he often used to join the attack, distributing the ball decently, and even more looking for a scoring attempt. He seemed to possess a powerful right-footed shot which was accurate also first time, remarkable technique, and a good aerial ability. He could score also from free kick. He earned the nickname "the Joker" due to his individual skill, high fitness, and ability to cover all the positions along the defensive line and in the center of the midfield. His brilliancy was also seen when he was occasionally deployed as centre forward with West Riffa. He was even Premier League top scorer once under German coach Uli Maslo.
