Jalal is a former left-side midfielder, capable of playing as defensive or central midfielder and left-back. He spent the majority of his career at Al-Muharraq, where he played in 2003-04, and from 2009 to 2015. In Bahrain, he played also for Al-Shabab from 2001 to 2003, and Al-Ahli in 2015-16. He also had short experiences in Qatar and Kuwait. He capped for Bahrain 125 times, scoring 6 goals.
A member of Bahrain's golden generation, Jalal wasn't one of the most flashy players. Although, his versatility enabled him to play in several roles, including defensive ones. Mostly effective in the attack, he possessed fine technique, solid speed to push forward down the flank, and good ball distribution. His crosses in particular had good speed and curling, but he could deliver nice low passes too.
