INFO:
Hussain Baba is a former centre back or defensive midfielder. Nicknamed "Sinbad" in reference to Sinbad the Sailor, he played for numerous clubs in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. However, he had his longest spells in his country, playing for Al-Riffa from 2001 to 2004 and from 2017 to 2019, and Al-Muharraq from 2012 to 2017. He capped for Bahrain 123 times, scoring 8 goals.
Considered one of the prominent players Bahrain has ever produced and one of the best defenders in the Gulf region during the 2000s and 2010s, Baba always was a valid choice in the center of the defence of clubs and national team thanks to a combination of toughness, fighting spirit, fine tackling, elegance on the field, and technical abilities. Often deployed in front of the defence, he was superb in breaking the opposition's attacks and deliver accurate long balls that cut opposing defence. He was known also for his powerful long range shots and excellent free kicks. At his time he was regarded as the third best free kick taker in Bahrain national team behind Mahmoud Abdulrahman and Sayed Mohamed Adnan. Baba was also a good header due to his height and notable jump.
