Isa is a former left-back, capable of playing as left-side midfielder and left winger. He spent the majority of his career at Al-Riffa, where he played from 1998 to 2001, from 2002 to 2005, from 2011 to 2014. Also, he spent several seasons in Qatar, playing for Al-Arabi in 2001-02 and from 2005 to 2011. He retired in 2016 after two years at Manama Club. He capped for Bahrain 160 times, scoring 24 goals.
One of the most prominent players in Bahrain's history and considered one of the best left-backs in Asia at his time, Isa was an efficient captain for his national team. He was distinguished for good form, high technical level and his versatility that allowed him to play in more positions. Hardworking, fast and tireless, he was nicknamed "the Bird" and "the Flying wing" for his quick runs down the left flank. He was gifted notable dribbling and a good finishing ability that helped him becoming top scorer of the 2004-05 Bahraini league despite his main position being defender. Furthermore, he possessed a very good heading ability even though he wasn't tall.
