Vakatalesau is a centre forward, capable of playing as winger. His career began in 2004 at Lautoka, where he had multiple spells. In the Fiji Islands, he played also for Ba F.C., and he's currently playing for Nadroga after signing in 2020. Also, he had short experiences in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu. He capped for Fiji 19 times, scoring 14 goals.
Distinguished for his huge physique and technical skills, Vakatalesau is quite hard to stop. While he's a bit slow in the movements and doesn't possess a great ball control, he's surprisingly gifted in the dribbling, and his speed on the short distance is solid for a man his size. He knows how to position himself inside the box to receive the ball and score easy goals, though he wasn't constantly prolific throughout his career. With his national team, for example, he scored nearly all of his goals in 2007. Also, he's not the typical big in-box striker as he moves a lot on the flanks to create scoring opportunities for himself or send the ball in the box for a teammate to score.
