INFO:
Pak Doo-ik is a former inside forward, half-back and centre forward. He spent his entire career at Moranbong during the 1960s and 1970s. A member of North Korea national team from 1959 to 1968, he capped nearly 50 times, scoring at least 2 goals, taking part to the 1966 FIFA World Cup where he scored 1 goal.
Often considered as the greatest player in North Korea's history, Pak Doo-ik was one of the leading forces of the North Korean team. His position in the field during the group stage games was half-back with offensive duties. Therefore, he was a central midfielder as much as he was an inside forward. He rushed forward at every opportunity, though he could be occasionally seen close to his own area during the defensive phase. While he possessed quick footwork and solid technique that allowed him to keep and defend the ball, he had a quite predictable dribbling. He was a solid passer who could put his teammates in good positions after a through pass forward or a pass behind from the edge of the area with his back to the goal. He scored against Italy with a nice right-footed shot after receiving the ball in the area. He nearly scored again in the same match with a fairly powerful free kick that finished just high over the crossbar. Despite playing in the forward line against Portugal in an inside-centre forward role, he couldn't score, although he fought for the entire match.
