INFO:
Ryang Yong-gi is a side midfielder or winger, mostly on the left, capable of playing as central or attacking midfielder, and occasionally deployed as defensive midfielder. Born in Japan, he played only in the J.League. He spent almost his entire career at Vegalta Sendai, where he made 606 appearances and scored 83 goals so far since his debut in 2004. He played also for Sagan Tosu in 2020 and 2021. He capped for North Korea 26 times, scoring 7 goals. He helped his national team qualify for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup by leading them to win the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup, where he was top scorer and MVP of the tournament.
One of the best North Korean players of the 2010s, Ryang Yong-gi surely deserved more space in the North Korea national team. Mostly active in the attack without overlooking the defence, he's a creative playmaker who has in his excellent passing and crossing abilities with either foot his main assets that have enabled him to create numerous scoring chances for both Vegalta Sendai and North Korea. He himself is a good scorer, particularly accurate from set piece as he scored several free kicks and some penalties. He's not notably fast but he still moves enough in the middle of the field, showing some decent tackling, regaining possession of the ball and defending it with solid technique while waiting for a teammate to whom he can pass the ball.

Spoiler: show
