Braima was a goalkeeper. His career started in 1976 at Al-Nahda Al-Damer. He transferred to Al-Merrikh in 1978, remaining there until his retirement in 1996. A member of Sudan national team from 1985 to 1995, he capped at least 12 times.
One of the best goalkeepers in Sudan's history, Braima was a giant between the posts, distinguished for goalkeeping awareness, reliability, good mentality, reflexes and correct timing. Strikers feared him for his efficiency and consistency while his defenders felt reassured by his presence, especially due to his tall figure that allowed him to reach high balls with ease. Braima was named best African keeper and inserted in the top-10 overall African players in 1989 by France Football magazine. He was supposed to be named also second in the world for clean sheets behind the Brazilian Mazaropi but for some reason he was ignored.
