INFO:
Ismail is a former left side or central midfielder who could also play as left-back and left-winger. He spent his entire career at Al Nasr where he made 612 appearances and scored 70 goals from 1985 to 2000. He capped for the United Arab Emirates 93 times (at least 44 in official games) and scored not less than 7 goals. He took part to the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
One of the most prominent players in the Emirati team during the 1990s, Ismail was the kind who put lots of effort and determination as he moved forward and back constantly to cover his flank. He was known for his creativity, beautiful goals and ability in the air. He set up Adnan al-Talyani with a heading assist in an important match against Kuwait during the 1990 World Cup qualifiers. Ismail also showed his aerial efficiency whenever he was deployed in a defensive role as he made his presence felt by clearing most high balls. However, he was more comfortable in the attack. Therefore, when he was playing in midfield and his coach asked him to defend more, especially Carlos Alberto Parreira, he couldn't perform his task well enough. His offensive prowess was likely due to the fact that his primary position was forward with Al Nasr. Ismail scored Emirates first goal in the World Cup in the second group match against Germany when he took advantage of a defender mistake and beat the goalkeeper with a fairly powerful left-footed ground shot.
