Simson is a former right-back. His career started in 1968 at Bintang Timur. He transferred to PSSA Ambon in 1970, Mutiara Pertamina Makassar in 1973, Beringin Putra in 1974, PSM Makassar in 1975. He eventually joined Warna Agung in 1976 and spent there the rest of his career until his retirement in 1986, excluding the 1978-79 season at Persija Jakarta. He was an Indonesia international from mid 1970s to early 1980s.
Irreplaceable in the right-back position of the Indonesia national team for several years, Simson was distinguished by his toughness on the right wing, great ability to withstand the opposition's attacks, determination and physical strength both when attacking and defending. His major weakness was probably his lack of quickness and agility in covering the empty spots left by his teammates.
