INFO:
Lubis was an attacking midfielder. His career started in 1976 at PSKB Binjai. He then played for Mercu Buana from 1980 to 1983, Yanita Utama from 1983 to 1985, Kramayudha Tiga Berlian from 1985 to 1989, and Petrokimia Putra in 1989-90. Although his experience with the Indonesia national team was short, from 1983 to 1986, he was an important figure in the Indonesian squad.
Compared to Diego Maradona for his physique and charming style of play in midfield, Lubis had the only difference in the fact that he was focused in setting the rhythm of the game and providing assists for his teammates. Maradona, instead, was more offensive and a great scorer. Lubis still had a solid shooting ability. His technique and dribbling skills also were remarkable. He could make a difference in every match with his game. His best quality was his ball distribution, so accurate that the strikers felt like they were receiving first class passes. Lubis also had high vision that enabled him to read the movements of the opposition's defenders and determine where his teammates in the forward line were moving. Unfortunately, Lubis lacked of discipline as he used to get angry quickly, especially at young age, and often got into fights whenever an opposing player started tackling him rudely. This attitude was the main reason why he wasn't a mainstay in the national team for a longer period.
