INFO:
Oduor is a former sweeper and centre-back. His career started in 1976 at Umeme FC. He signed for Gor Mahia in 1980, playing there until 1990. He then transferred to Oman to pursue a professional contract but retirted not long after. He capped for Kenya 38 times from 1985 to 1990 and he's a national team former captain.
Considered one of the best defenders in Kenya's history and possibly the country's most successful captain, Oduor was initially a defensive midfielder at Gor Mahia. However, he was often in the bench and came in as substitute because there were several more experienced players in that role. He became a starter in 1981 and was turned into a defender one year later. In the 1980s, every team had a sweeper and this role suited Oduor perfectly because he had intelligent game, excellent anticipation, passes interception, and he knew how to use his foot. He had the instinct to put himself in the right place at the right time to stop the opposition's attacks. In addition, he had a good ball playing skills as he could deliver accurate pinpoint passes. Debuting with Kenya in 1985, he was initially deployed as centre-back due to Jared Ingutia playing as sweeper. Oduor's breakout year with the national team was 1987 and once again as sweeper.
One of Oduor's most memorable moments was an overhead scissors kick save on the line in the final group match of the 1988 Africa Cup against Cameroon. Another outstanding performance came in a 1990 World Cup qualifying match against Liberia where Kenya won 1-0 and Oduor marked noneother than George Weah successfully for the entire game.
