INFO:
Baba Yara was a right-winger. He spent the majority of his career at Asante Kotoko where he played from 1955 to 1961. He then transferred to Real Republicans but was forced to retire in 1963 following a car accident that left him paralysed. He died six years later. Baba Yara capped for Ghana 51 times, scoring an impressive 49 goals. He was named Ghana Footballer of the Year in 1959 and 1960 as well as MVP of Ghana national team in 1961. His greatest moment of glory came in 1963 as he led Ghana to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
Wearing the jersey number 7, Baba Yara went on to become who today is considered one of the best wingers in Ghana's history and for some the greatest player to ever emerge from the country. Some historians of Ghanaian football believe that he was better than Osei Kofi and Abedi Pelé, and that he would've been on the same level as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo had he played in the same era as them. Nicknamed "King of Wingers", Seidu possessed an accurate touch and the ability to score with either foot interchangeably. A player who made his presence felt, gifted with a solid physique, he excelled especially for his fantastic scoring qualities despite his position and young age. His agility and outstanding run on the ball allowed him to get past three defenders during one single action. But due to his technical skills, tactical awareness, creativity and unselfishness, he was capable of providing accurate assists, often managing to create the perfect chance for his teammates with a decisive pass. His style of play was well defined, very smooth and beautiful to see. In addition, he was known for his commitment, discipline and sportsmanship as he was never seen arguing with referees or opponents. Some European commentators even called him the "African Stanley Matthews".
