Ben Yahia is a former sweeper and centre-back. Wearing his jersey n°15, he spent his entire career at Espérance de Tunis from 1979 to 1994. He capped for Tunisia 95 times, scoring 5 goals and taking part to the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations where the team unfortunately was eliminated in the group stage.
Nicknamed "Krol", Ben Yahia is one of the greatest and strongest defenders in the history of Tunisia's football. He was was a complete player due to his number of abilities, both defensive and offensive. He possessed solid pace, high morals, mentality, creativity, positional sense and could stop any opposing strikers with his tough but fair and timing tackles. But he was also technically gifted as he was often seen dribbling his opponents while pushing forward, using also his physical strength to make his own way. His ball distribution was also remarkable: he could either serve a teammate with an accurate through pass or send a fast pinpoint cross from the back that usually reached the opposition's area. He occasionally took free kicks from where he could send a cross to the box. He was natural left-footed and had a powerful shot that could be dangerous from long range. His technical qualities was proven also by his ability to hit the ball first time or with the outside.
