Bouazizi is a former defensive or central midfielder who could also play as centre-back or sweeper. His career started in 1991 at Étoile du Sahel where he made 205 appearances and scored 10 goals. He left in 2000 as he transferred to Turkey where he stayed until 2007 playing for Bursaspor, Gaziantepspor and Kayseri Erciyesspor. He retired in 2008 after spending one season at Bizertin. He capped for Tunisia 92 times, scoring 3 goals and winning the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations.
While Bouazizi played as defensive or central midfielder for his national team, he was often lined up as centre-back or even sweeper by the Turkish teams he played for. Bouazizi was a midfielder of high stamina and mentality who could support both attack and defence very well. He wasn't always timely in the tackles but he recovered many balls and covered the back-line efficiently, even acting as additional defender in his team's area during set pieces for the opponents. He possessed solid technique and notable speed in the short distance. He was also decent in the air thanks to a very good jump. His ball distribution was overall fine as he could provide his teammates with accurate short passes and fast pinpoint crosses. However, his long balls were often out of measure. Despite acting mainly as defensive player, he didn't mind attempting to score now and then as he had a powerful shot, although not particularly accurate.
