Fadiga is a former left side midfielder or left-winger who could also play as attacking midfielder. His career started in 1994 at RFC Liège. He then played two years at Lommel SK before joining Club Brugge where he spent two and a half seasons, making 96 appearances and scoring 21 goals. He had an equally good experience in France at Auxerre as he played 104 matches and scored 13 goals between 2000 and 2003. Inter decided to sign him following his performance with the French team as well as Senegal. Unfortunately, he never appeared for the team due to heart problems. He never reached the same level that he had in the early 2000s, and he eventually retired in 2011 after playing for Bolton Wanderers, Derby County, Coventry City, Gent, and Germinal Beerschot, never with success. He capped for Senegal 41 times, scoring 4 goals and taking part to the 2000 and 2002 Africa Cup of Nations as well as the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Fadiga was a very good midfielder who relied on pace, technical skills and ball distribution. He possessed good speed both on and off the ball, and physical strength to resist the charges from the opponents. His remarkable dribbling and technique allowed him to keep the ball safe or get past an opponent before distributing the ball. The accuracy of his short passes was more consistent in comparison to his crosses, although he was often in charge of free kicks and corners. He preferred using accuracy rather than speed in his passes, often giving the ball a good curled effect and using the outside of his left foot. He attempted the shot from time to time but he rarely aimed correctly on target, though he could give the ball solid power. Even though he enjoyed running forward with the ball, he was an unselfish player as he could be seen in his own half when needed to help his defence retrieve the ball possession.
