INFO:
Usiyan was a winger or centre-forward. He spent his entire career in the United States, playing for Appalachian State Mountaineers, Montreal Manic, Tulsa Roughnecks, Minnesota Strikers, Los Angeles Lazers, St. Louis Storm, Hamilton Steelers, San Diego Sockers, St. Louis Ambush, and San Jose Grizzlies. He debut in 1977 and retired in 1995. He represented Nigeria from 1976 to 1981 and scored 14 goals.
Usiyan was a peculiar player. He was tall but slim, therefore smooth when moving between defenders, but not particularly fast overall. He showed notable pace when he had ground, but was significantly slower in tighter spaces and even slower on the ball. He possessed good dribbling skill and could protect the ball well, but his ball control was often awful, especially when he had to stop the ball first time. On the other hand, he could deliver solid volley passes and occasional shots. His ball distribution was decent overall, particularly his short passes, but he often gave the ball a very slow pace. He had a remarkable jump which made him a threat in the air but wasn't very accurate with headers. What's more, he would regularly fall back into midfield or even his own half to recover the ball or set up an attack for his team. His tendency to cover a lot of ground was also seen in his constant switches of side or movements to the box, whether he was playing as a winger or a centre-forward.
