Sok Ronn was a centre-back and defensive midfielder. He played mainly in the 1970s and was likely forced to retire in 1975 due to the Cambodian war. He represented Cambodia in the early 1970s, including at the 1972 Asian Cup, where he played against the likes of Iran, Kuwait and Thailand.
According to Vietnamese sports newspapers from the early 1970s following a 1971 friendly match between Cambodia and South Vietnam, Ronn had the task to mark fast wingers, which he did especially thanks to his stamina. He was a tenacious, physically strong tackler and leader of the defence. In fact, FIFA archives from the era mentioned his tactical ability in controlling the back-line. Reports from one of the two Asian Cup matches against Iran described him as surprisingly quick over short distances (he relied on physical strength after all) but lacked pace overall. His tendency to perform his hard tackles early led his team to concede numerous fouls during the Asian Cup tournament. Based on an article from the Emirati newspaper Al Ittihad, Ronn had great timing on set pieces and likely provided a heading assist for one of the goals scored by Cambodia in the historic 4-0 win over Kuwait.
