INFO:Mantantu is a former attacking or central midfielder. He started his career at Diable Rouges de Thysville in 1966. He played there until 1972. He then transferred to CS Imana (now known as Daring Club Motema Pembe) where he played from 1972 to 1978. He represented the Democratic Republic of the Congo (back then Zaire) from 1968 to 1976, playing at least 28 games and scoring not less than 4 goals. He won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1968 and 1974, and participated to the 1974 FIFA World Cup.
A classic playmaker who didn't make too much movement, Mantantu possessed good technical and ball distribution skills. Wearing the jersey n°10, he could be seen at the World Cup making notable dribbling, ball controls, and accurate passes. While he mostly passed the ball with short trajectories, he could also provide good crosses. Also in charge of free kicks, he attempted one against Scotland: the shot was powerful but an easy catch for the Scottish goalkeeper. Mantantu had a short but bulky physique and was weak in the air.
