INFO:
Etepé Kakoko is a former left-winger. His career started in 1968 at CS Imana (now known as Daring Club Motema Pembe). He transferred to Germany in 1981 when he signed for Stuttgart but his only season at the club was underwhelming as he barely played. Things went better from 1982 and 1984 as he made 49 appearances for Saarbrücken, scoring 23 goals. He retired one year later after another unsuccessful season, this time at Borussia Neunkirchen. He represented the Democratic Republic of the Congo (back then Zaire) from 1970 to 1976, earning at least 31 caps and scoring not less than 9 goals. In 1974, he won the Africa Cup of Nations (scored 1 goal in the 4-1 against Mauritius) and participated to the FIFA World Cup.
Kakoko was a technically gifted winger, capable of using both feet, equally fast on the ball and over long distance off the ball. While he was mainly focused on attacking, he often fell back to midfield to set up the play or even to the back-line in support of the defenders. He was remarkable one-on-one with his turns and ability to protect the ball. His distribution was also solid. While his scoring rate for DR Congo suggest that he might be a somewhat prolific striker, the favourable occasions that he had at the World Cup proved otherwise.
