Breik was a centre-half, possibly both defensive and central midfielder as well as centre-back, given that some sources describe him as a defender and others as a midfielder. His career was tied to two clubs: Feisal FC primarily in the 1960s, and Mombasa Combined in the 1970s. He won the Kenyan league with Feisal in 1964. He represented the Kenya national team from 1965 to 1975, earning 36 caps and scoring 7 goals, at least one of which from penalty. He was a key player for Kenya in several Gossage Cup wins. He passed away on 11 December 2023 at the age of 77.
As a midfielder, Breik was one of the best of his generation. He was a talented, classy, standout, all-round player capable of dictating the tempo of the game. It's unclear whether he was a prolific set piece taker, but it's known that he scored at least one penalty for Kenya and reportedly one goal directly from corner kick in the 1970s.
From a defensive perspective, Breik wasn't too tall but was well-built, with muscular thighs and legs. He showed great confidence in the centre-back role as he broke many attack attempts from marauding strikers, doing it with style and cranchy tackles that were feared by many opponents.
