Masuaku is a left-back who can also play as wing-back or side midfielder and occasionally for clubs as centre-back. His career started in 2013 at Valenciennes. He transferred to Olympiacos one year later and made 74 appearances in two seasons, scoring 2 goals. He signed for West Ham United in 2016 and spent six years in England, playing 128 matches and scoring 2 goals. He then joined Beşiktaş where he played from 2022 to 2025, making 108 appearances and scoring 3 goals. He played for Sunderland and Lens during the 2025-26 season but was rarely used by both teams. He's represented DR Congo since 2018 and has earned 49 caps so far, scoring 4 goals. He took part to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Masuaku is a good left-back, mainly focused in the attack but not ignoring of the defence. While he's not very fast, he can rely on a good physical build and decent technical qualities. He always attempts a huge number of crosses, either from midfield or the byline, but they often lack accuracy. He's also a solid passer, showing his ability when he sets up the play from the back, makes a triangles of passes, or provides a cut back pass towards the opposition's area. He's also often in charge of taking corner and free kicks. He can also be a threat when he tries to score thanks to a shot packed with good power. While he can use the right foot, he rarely does it and prefers using his natural left foot instead. He's alright but inconsistent from a defensive standpoint as he can read and anticipate at times, sometimes even with the head, but he can be dribbled quite easily and isn't a great tackler.
