INFO:
Grobbelaar is a former goalkeeper. He made 628 appearances for Liverpool from 1981 to 1994. He's especially remembered for his performance in the 1983-84 European Cup final against Roma. He had an incredible condition during the first five years with "the Reds" as he didn't miss a single league match between the 1981 and the 1986 seasons. He played also for Stoke City and Southampton among other teams, retiring in 2007 at the age of 50. He played for Zimbabwe 33 times.
Regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in Liverpool history, Grobbelaar was incredibly athletic and composed, gifted with determination and an eccentric as well as flamboyant style. Amazing and extravagant in the field, he was the most unique and colourful goalkeeper at the time. But he wasn't just a clownish keeper who could make handstands. He was capable of making excellent saves, brave off the goal and daring out of the box as he knew how to anticipate or tackle his opponent, intercept the ball and sweep it away. He had also solid ball distribution. He had outstanding reflexes, could make huge jumps and was capable of stopping the most dangerous and powerful shots. However, he often seemed overconfident and lacking of basic goalkeeping skills given that he conceded many goals coming from easy shots or close range. Some criticised him for his overly playful attitude that made him too careless at times, to the point that he would make incredible mistakes.
