Henri Camara is a former winger who could also play as centre-forward and secondary striker. His career started in 1998 at Strasbourg but he was never used and he eventually transferred to Switzerland one year later. He spent one season with Neuchâtel Xamax and one with Grasshopper before going back to France where he joined Sedan, making 65 appearances and scoring 23 goals in two years. His following experiences with Wolverhampton, Celtic, and Southampton weren't as good. He then spent two solid years at Wigan Athletic between 2005 and 2007. He left England in 2010 after playing for West Ham United, Stoke City, and Sheffield United but without success. He retired in 2018 after spending nearly a decade in Greece, playing for Atromitos, Panetolikos, Kalloni, Lamia, Apollon Smyrnis, Ionikos, and Fostiras. He capped for Senegal 98 times, scoring 29 goals and taking part to the Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup in 2002.
Camara was an exciting forward who had his best qualities in outstanding pace and excellent technique. He could defend the ball from multiple opponents thanks to his feints and dribble them with his bursts of pace. However, he wasn't particularly strong and could lose the ball without much difficulty against physical defenders. He could deliver spectacular shots but he was never a prolific scorer, also due to his lack of consistency. Camara was also dynamic outside the box, helping the midfield retrieve the ball on occasion, and setting up the attack with good passes. He could be seen attempting the cross several times when he was on the wing, but the deliveries were hardly threatening. Whilst he was particularly accurate with both feet, he rarely used the right foot, usually preferring his natural left.
